Geographika Series

This body of work is a contemplation of the passage of time and its imprint on our geography, both in ourselves and in the world around us. Richly textured surfaces and brushstrokes interact with layers of glazes in work that has been compared to maps of ancient lands, trails from an aerial perspective, and rocks in a stream worn smooth by centuries of water flowing over them. The Geographika paintings hold between 20 to more than 30 layers of paint and mediums; it is the light filtering through these many translucent layers that gives the feeling of depth and the serenity of water. Geographika curates well with organic modernism and midcentury modern as well as more traditional interiors.
